Academic

Information

At Concord we set very high academic standards.  Students arrive here and want to do their best.  They work incredibly hard to achieve not only their hopes and dreams, but the hopes and dreams of their families.

Together the culture we create is one of success.  Whilst we recognise that life is not just about academic brilliance and there is a rich and varied programme of enrichment activities, academic progress is at the heart of everyday life at Concord.

Our overall aim is to provide a curriculum that is demanding and challenging and that can give Concord leavers the skills and qualifications required for access to top universities in the UK and elsewhere.

At Form 3 (Year 9) students follow a broad curriculum to encourage a range of interests and to give a grounding in a wide range of subjects.

At Form 4 (Year 10) all will study Mathematics, English (and English Literature in most cases) and the sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).  In addition, they are able to choose from a range of subjects to study to GCSE or IGCSE level, including Art, Astronomy, Computer Science, Drama, Economics, French, Geography, German, History, Music (BTEC Level 2), Religious Studies, Spanish and Statistics.

In the Sixth Form (Year 12) students can choose to study either three or four subjects to A Level plus one or two subjects to AS Level.  There are a wide range of subjects to choose from including Art, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, French, Further Mathematics, Geography, History, Mathematics,  Photography, Physics and Spanish.  Some students are also invited to sit for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with a specialist Music EPQ a possibility.
