Bell Concord Charitable Trust
Concord College is operated by the Bell Concord Educational Trust, a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. The College became a charity in 1983.
The objectives of the Bell Concord Educational Trust are to “promote and provide for the advancement of education and in particular to carry on, acquire and develop in the United Kingdom or elsewhere any boarding or day schools or colleges”.
Trustees
The activities of the Bell Concord Educational Trust are overseen by a Board of Trustees. These Trustees are also Governors of Concord College.
The role of the Trustees is to hold ultimate control of and responsibility for the management of the Bell Concord Educational Trust, including ensuring the Trust acts in accordance with the Trust’s Constitution; educating, safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of students at Concord College; ensuring compliance with the inspection regime; and managing the Trust’s activities in furtherance of its charitable objects in the context of its dual regulation by the Charity Commission and Companies House.
The Trustees appoint and guide the Principal and senior officers of the College to ensure that the education provided is of a high standard and in line with Concord’s stated ethos and aims. They also have financial and regulatory oversight of the College as well as being responsible for the strategic direction.
