TEACHER OF SPANISH & FRENCH

(September 2022)

Concord College is England’s premier co-educational boarding school set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside with 605 students aged 13-19.  Historic buildings sit alongside our state-of-the-art facilities which include areas providing extra-curricular activities, sport and recreation.  We are truly international with upwards of 40 nationalities represented, which creates a wonderfully diverse community.

The College is highly academic and students consistently achieve excellent ‘A’ level results.  In 2021 94% of students achieved A*/A and 98% A*- B.  We are also delighted that 111 students have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge over the last six years.

We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic full-time Teacher of Spanish & French on a permanent basis from September 2022.

The successful candidate will be capable of teaching Spanish to A level and French to GCSE level and have the ability to expertly and confidently prepare students for all aspects of GCSE & A level examinations. A willingness to contribute to the broader life of the College is expected. Applications from newly qualified teachers will be considered.

VIDEO EDITOR INTERN (Fixed Term Contract)

We are currently seeking a highly organised individual with good IT skills and demonstrable experience of Adobe Premiere or similar video editing software. This role is an exciting opportunity to be involved with a new initiative at Concord College as part of the development of an online educational resource for A level students called ‘Virtually Concord’. The successful candidate will work within a small team and be based on the College campus where they will assist with filming, editing and uploading of videos to the content management system for the new website.

Working hours will be 17.5 per week, on days to be agreed with management, with flexibility for additional hours as workload demands. The post is initially for a fixed term of 6 months duration.

DINING ROOM ASSISTANT (ON ROTA)

Our Catering team provide an efficient, friendly service in a vibrant and busy environment, serving breakfast, lunch and supper plus morning and afternoon refreshments to our 600 students and 200 staff.  Our menus are interesting and varied, catering for the tastes of our multi-national community.  We currently have a vacancy for a Dining Room Assistant to join our existing team providing high standards of service and cleanliness in our servery and dining rooms.  Hours of work will be 35 per week on a rota basis, which will include some evening and weekend cover.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS (TRIPS & ACTIVITIES) COORDINATOR

We are looking for a highly organised administrator with good interpersonal and excellent IT skills.  The role involves researching, arranging and coordinating travel, accommodation, catering and medical requirements and compiling risk assessments for all trips (UK and overseas), including educational and cultural visits and residential trips and activities such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, field study trips and outdoor educational activities. Previous experience in a similar role or of working in the travel industry would be desirable. Working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (35 working hours per week), with flexibility to participate in/support some trips and activities.

ASSISTANT BURSAR (FINANCE & PROCUREMENT)

We are seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Assistant Bursar who will have responsibility for finance and procurement, together with data protection and policies which relate to non-academic/non-pastoral areas. The post holder must have extensive experience in a professional finance function, ideally with knowledge of charity/not for profit accounting and statutory reporting.  The successful candidate will report to the Bursar and will be responsible for first line management of the finance department, providing effective leadership, ensuring the integrity of all accounting procedures and records and driving best practice.  Proven ability in business management will be essential, ideally in an education setting.

The successful candidate will be approachable, respectful, act with integrity and diplomacy and possess strong leadership skills with the ability to forge and maintain successful professional relationships.  Excellent IT skills, with enhanced skills in Excel and Word and in financial modelling, are also essential for the post.

SUMMER SCHOOL DIRECTOR 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Summer School Director who will have responsibility for many elements of the design, marketing and delivery of the summer courses. The post holder will also play a key role in ensuring that there is consistency between Concord’s Summer School in action and in the way that the courses are designed and delivered.

The post holder must have strong business acumen with excellent negotiation skills and a proven ability to devise and run clear systems. A full understanding of the importance of safeguarding is essential for the role, as is the commitment to the College’s aims and ethos that puts the wellbeing of children first in an inclusive, kind and family-orientated atmosphere. The successful candidate will report to the Principal and the Bursar and will be responsible for the line management of the Summer School Administrators and the staff appointed to work on the College’s summer courses.

The successful candidate will be approachable, respectful, act with integrity and diplomacy and possess strong leadership skills with the ability to forge and maintain successful professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Excellent IT skills, with an ability to work efficiently to fixed deadlines, are also essential for the post.

DOMESTIC ASSISTANTS

Our Domestic Assistants play a key role in the day-to-day care of our facilities, maintaining the high standards that are required in cleanliness and hygiene for the benefit of all students, staff and visitors.  Each team member takes responsibility for a specific area, to aid motivation and increase job satisfaction, and everyone works under the care and guidance of our Domestic Services Manager and Assistant.  We currently have vacancies for Domestic Assistants working full-time and part-time, with various days and hours of work available.  Some posts include weekend working.

Shanghai Concord Bilingual School

Shanghai Concord Bilingual School (“the School”) is the first bilingual private school in the Huangpu District, the heart of Shanghai.

The School opened its doors in September 2017 to students for Grade 6 and 10, Primary school for Grade 1 and 2 in September 2018. Currently, the School has over 500 students in total. Every year, the School enrolls students for Grades 1, 6 and 10.

The School is being developed in association with its prestigious sister school, Concord College (UK) a renowned international college whose academic excellence places it at the very top of the UK examination league tables. Concord College (UK) is lending its considerable experience and expertise in support of this venture.

The aim of the School is to create a place of learning where students can flourish in a supportive atmosphere of harmony, trust and decency; whilst committed to striving for academic excellence at every level.

The courses offered incorporate the traditional Chinese curriculum in a bilingual environment, whilst also offering students IGCSE and A levels, with the intention of preparing students for entry into the top universities throughout the world.

The School is expanding quickly. The Primary will move to a dedicated site 10 minutes walking distance from the main site of the School, before the 2020-2021 academic year. The School will have 300 pupils from Grade 1 to 4 in the 2020-2021 academic year.
