Concord’s Winter Concert 2024
Concord enjoyed a magical evening of music as eighteen different groups, ensembles or soloists entertained the college.
Mrs Latter-Perrins, Head of Music at Concord was delighted by the success of the evening:
“The Winter Concert was a celebration and culmination of all the work Concord musicians have been doing throughout the Autumn term, both in their music lessons and through our department clubs and activities. Week on week, they gave their time, energy and commitment to deliver music they can be proud of. For some the concert was their first performance here at Concord and they had a warm welcome and support from the audience in attendance.
“The programme featured solo and duo performances but also offerings from all the music department groups, including Choir, String Group, Wind Group, Jazz band, Band Coaching, the Johann trio and our newly formed Orchestra. Set up only this term, it has been fantastic to see the orchestra come together, with over 30 students now taking part. A combination of our string and wind group, the orchestra rehearses every other week, and so students have to learn repertoire swiftly!
“All performers at the Winter Concert did such an outstanding job preparing fun, entertaining and challenging pieces for the concert. They are ably assisted and directed in rehearsals by a wonderful team of Visiting Music Teachers who can give them the specialist advice on their instrument. Every student on stage showed confidence and flair in their musical performances during the concert – it was a memorable evening!”
