In an international school with so many different backgrounds, ethnicity’s and countries, food is the bridge that brings all us together. With grumbling stomachs and gleeful smiles, our shared love for different kinds of foods brings us together on the memorable international food fair day.
As head of the Singapore society, we prepared our local bandung, a rose drink and kaya toast, a traditional breakfast meal. The Thai society prepared their ever-loved mango sticky rice, Malaysia society brought their curry chicken with rice and Kazakh society brought their traditional desserts. The smells were truly tantalising.
The atmosphere was bustling with students running around different countries booths, with plates extended arms length asking for more. Many were packed around the student kitchen finding shelter from the rain.
Our kaya toast and drinks were popular. We had to ask people to share each toast with 4 friends. We even had to make the toast on the go. We soon ran out of bread and resorted to feeding people Kaya off spoons! It was truly an amusing sight.
