Concord the Top UK school in Physics Bowl Division 1
Concord physics students have been celebrating huge success in the Physics Bowl.
The competition is open to high school students from around the world and is run by the American Association of Physics Teachers. The challenge is often regarded as the world’s premier physics competition, with over 12,000 participants worldwide.
As a Team, Concord students in the Division 1 competition came 29th in the world, and were the highest placed UK school team.
On an individual level, 6.1 Student Hayden, who was competing in the challenging division 2 category for more experienced physics students, achieved an incredible 51st place in the entire world and was the top placed UK student.

Physics teacher Mr Bart Wargos was delighted by the results and the participation from so many Concord students: “The Physics Bowl has ignited a remarkable spirit of inquiry. The methods varied: some prepared individually while others collaborated with me and their very dedicated physics teachers. We continuously strive to support our students, especially with the rotational dynamics content that falls outside of the exam syllabus here in the UK.
“ I want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to their physics teachers, who did an outstanding job preparing these students. The results were truly commendable, securing our 29th position in Division 1 worldwide, and a special mention to Hayden for achieving an incredible 51st place.
“Overall, I am thrilled to see our students eager to expand their knowledge, embrace new challenges, build their confidence, and showcase their strong grasp of physics. A big well done to our students, embodying our community spirit by bravely aspiring to take on new challenges”
This year’s competition saw 12,725 students compete from 456 schools in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cambodia, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, and the United States, as well as over 700 schools participating from China.
Concord was also delighted to see a student from our linked school in China, Shanghai Concord Bilingual School (SCBS) come 100th in the world.
