Best ever GCSE results for Form 5

Thursday August 12, 2021

Congratulations to Concord’s Form 5 who have achieved the best ever GCSE results with over 93% of grades awarded at 7 – 9 (compared to a national average of 29%), 83% at grade 8 (or above) and an amazing 66% at grade 9 (compared to a national average of 7.4%). Overall, the F5 students have done brilliantly and there are many individual success stories including 13 students who achieved straight 9s (the top grade). The following six students achieved an outstanding 11 grade 9s: Eve, Aryan, Becky, Megan, Marvin & Joline. Said Head of Lower School Mrs Rachel Coward: “The students and staff have shown great determination and resilience in what has been an uncertain and challenging period, adapting to new ways of teaching and learning, particularly vacillating between online and live lessons over essentially a whole year of a two year course. “They are to be congratulated and we look forward to seeing them thrive in what will hopefully be a more stable Sixth Form experience!” Concord’s Principal Mr Neil Hawkins added: “I am absolutely delighted for our Form 5 (Year 11) students who have been awarded such outstanding grades this year.  Their success is enormously well deserved and is a testament to the individual talent, dedication and resilience of each young person over the last eighteen months in particular. “I hope that their success will give them great confidence as each moves into the next stage of their education: these young people are capable of reaching great heights of achievement.  More importantly, they are fine individuals who embody Concord’s core values of rigour, creative-thinking and kindness.  By living and developing these values they should ensure that they flourish in the next stage of their schooling and – indeed - in life beyond school. “I am extremely grateful to the staff team who have supported our students over the past two years.  The professionalism of teachers, heads of department, heads of year, boarding staff and of the entire support staff team have combined to create an atmosphere in which truly extraordinary outcomes have been possible.  I would also like to thank parents who have given the trust of their child to Concord and who have supported us so fully.”
