Futures Virtual Conference programme released!

Monday February 22, 2021

This weekend, Concord is delivering its annual Medical Futures Conference virtually for the first time – with an exciting and extensive medical programme, which you can read below. The conference, now in its fourth year, is designed to give students an in-depth and valuable insight into the highly competitive application process for medical school, in addition to providing virtual work experience by providing access to a wide range of doctors from different specialities to speak to. Event organiser and Concord’s Head of Science, Mr Barry Brown said: “With invitations going live across Shropshire, the West Midlands region and Welsh boarders at the start of the month, 150 external student spaces were filled within just three days! “36 different schools across the region will be represented and, with Concord’s aspiring medics too, the event will cater for over 200 students.” Mr Brown announced this week that a range of universities from across the UK, Ireland and further afield will be represented virtually on the day, as well as 18 doctors and representatives from The Medic Portal and Medical Doorway This year, the key note speaker is Dr Matt Morgan who will be presenting “A letter from ICU – lived experience of COVID from the brink of life”. Dr Morgan is an intensive care doctor, researcher and author of ‘Critical’, and a nominee for the 2020 Royal Society David Attenborough Prize for public engagement in science. Find out more and view the full programme below. ** Please note, although spaces are full for this year’s Medical Futures Conference, Concord looks forward to inviting prospective medics to its next conference in 2022.
