Concord

opens doors to end of year art exhibition

Tuesday June 21, 2022

Last week, Concord’s Art Department opened its doors to all students and staff at the College – welcoming everyone to view the highly impressive end of year art exhibition. The exhibition, according to Head of Art and Design, Mr Anthony Hudson, “features the work of our talented AS and A level students, as well as an impressive GCSE showcase.” “After two years away, we are delighted to be able to invite the Concord community back into the studios of our Art Department for the annual exhibition.” Speaking of the work on display, Mr Hudson said: “All of our students have worked so hard and explored a range of amazing, personal ideas in such a huge variety of creative ways. Congratulations to them all. “They should all be very proud of their work and hopefully appreciate that all the time and energy they put into it was worth it in the end!” The works include mediums such as drawings, paintings, graphics and textiles, photography, 3D models and sculptures. From Wednesday 15 to Friday 24 June, teachers, tutors, support staff and fellow students are invited to come along at their own leisure, to appreciate the stunning works and accompanying portfolio and explanations. Concord’s Alumni Officer, Mrs Alison Chadwick, who viewed the exhibition last week commented: “Walking into the end of year Art Department exhibition is a feast for all the senses, not just your eyes. “There is music playing, tactile shapes to explore and a wealth of ideas that make you think. “I am astounded at where the students' creativity comes from, and credit goes to their teachers for their coaching skills that get the best out of – and challenge – everyone.” Mr Hudson added: “It will be exciting to see our Form 5 artists develop their skills and ideas even further in the Sixth Form and, of course, we wish our graduating 6.2 students the best as they leave us for – amongst others, The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL, and The Architecture Association.” A photo gallery of the exhibition will be available to view on the Concord website once all exam works have been externally moderated and GCSEs and A levels awarded.
