hosts captivating Talent Show in aid of The HIVE

Wednesday October 31, 2018

Concord’s Form 4 BTEC Music group hosted ‘a captivating talent show’ recently, in aid of The HIVE charity. The HIVE is a Shrewsbury-based charity organisation that runs creative arts community projects for young people facing challenging circumstances across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. Students, staff and day parents were welcomed into Concord’s Theatre, in what turned out to be a sell-out event, with all proceeds donated to the charity. The concert consisted of 19 individual or groups acts and featured dances, songs, ensembles and even a musical piece using a launch-pad. Form 4 Music student, Barney, said: “All planning of the show was undertaken by the BTEC Music students as part of the course curriculum, in addition to gaining valuable events experience. “Students were given full responsibility from planning the concert, holding auditions and costing the refreshments, to finalising the acts and designing the programme brochure. “One of the hardest parts was narrowing 36 auditions into just 19 acts.” Fellow Music student, Chloe added: “It was particularly difficult because there was so much talent on display. But the willingness to be a part of the show was incredible, and there was a lot of variety.” “We would like to thank all the students and supporting staff from the BTEC Music group for an amazing concert, and a huge thanks to all who came and supported.” The feedback from attendees has been very positive, and Concord is delighted to have since heard from Mr Kevin Cody, a Trustee of The HIVE, following the show: Mr Cody said: “It was wonderful to see the incredible talent on show at Concord’s Fundraising Evening in support of The Hive. “From start to finish, the performances were captivating and the support shown by the students in the audience was amazing. “The money raised from the evening will go towards helping other young people across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin experience creative activities as transformative experiences.” Click here to view the Talent Show photo gallery.
