Concord’s 24-hour Swim for Charity

Concord Lifeguarding Team for Swim24

42 of Concord’s lifeguards, students & staff recently took part in our Swim24 event which was a fantastic success. The participants kept 3 lanes swimming for a full 24 hours in aid of the charity ‘Mèdecins Sans Frontiéres’ (Doctors Without Borders). Younger students swimming the day time slots whilst sixth formers kept the pool busy all night long.

The lifeguarding team all took part in the swim as well as taking a shift lifeguarding the participants, a total commitment of 7h each.

Among the 42 swimmers was Form 5 student Rishabh who completed 2 consecutive hours of butterfly!

Mrs Julia Kerslake who organised the event said “Understandably, many relied on floats as time went on. All participants deserve enormous credit for their efforts.

“Every lifeguard, swimmer, helper and donator has been part of something amazing and your efforts will make a real difference to those who need help around the world from MSF.”

The student’s dedication and effort raised a fantastic total of £2224 in the end, which was more than four times their initial target
