Skills Extra (Activities) is an optional programme for students who wish to develop in a particular activity or skill through expert tuition. Tuition takes place in small groups.
The Skills Extra programme takes place Monday to Friday (except Wednesday) from 1530. Students will receive tuition and guidance from a coach in their chosen skill consisting of:

Places are limited on this programme and, following receipt and deposit payment for the academic summer course, parents/guardians will receive an electronic link to select and pay for any optional programmes.
Student First Aid Certificate
Students receive tuition from a St John Ambulance qualified trainer covering such first aid skills as how to deal with allergic reactions, asthma attacks, bleeds and bruising, burns and scalds, choking, communication and casualty care, fainting, low blood sugar, bone, muscle and joint injuries, recovery position and resuscitation. Students will be awarded with a certificate detailing what aspects of First Aid they have trained in from St John Ambulance at the end of the course. The programme fee includes a £25 charitable donation to St John Ambulance. Age: 10- 17 Maximum size of group: 10
Expert tuition from a professional golf coach at a level appropriate to the ability of the individual student. Students may be given the opportunity to put their skills to test on one of Shropshire's fine courses. Golf equpment is provided at no extra charge. Age: 10-17 Maximum size of group: 10
Mountain Biking (GoMTB) - New for 2017
Go MTB is a progressive mountain bike achievement award that will enable the student to advance their technical riding skills as well as learning how to look after themselves, their bike, the environment, and other people. All equipment will be provided. Due to the nature of this activity, age, height, weight and ability restrictions may apply. Age: Restrictions will apply Maximum size of group: 8
Students receive tuition and advice from a qualified tennis coach and play matches against each other with critique on performance from the coach. All equipment is provided. Age: 10-17 Maximum size of group: 12
This activity is at a local stables. Each lesson consists of 30 minutes of stable management and one hour's riding covering flatwork and hacking/jumping. Hard hats are provided but students should ensure they have appropriate footwear and must wear long trousers, not shorts. Students will be required to complete a registration form before the first lesson which will allow the stables to place them in the appropriate level group. Age: 10-17 Maximum size of group: 10
