By using our modern, well equipped laboratories, the aim of our Science programme is to stimulate a life-long interest and enthusiasm for scientific and mathematical concepts.
The Science course is made up of 21 hours of classroom based teaching per week. Students are tested on the first day of the courses to establish common factual knowledge and level of English.
Our Junior Science course is for students aged 10-12. The course is specifically tailored for the younger scientist with elements of Biology, Chemistry and Physics included and carefully selected, safe experiments for the students to carry out.
Our Science course for students aged 13-17 is based on the British GCSE or Advanced level syllabus for content and level. The syllabus is built to develop skills, experience and confidence in practical work. If a student is found to be of a very high level in Science following testing, the Science Co-ordinator may transfer them to the Advanced level course.
The courses are taught in English by qualified science, mathematics and economics teachers supported by a team of 4 technicians. As well as developing scientific knowledge, technical English skills are also improved.
For GCSE and pre ‘A’ level, students choose 2 of the following subjects to study:
