Concord College is delighted to announce they will be offering four university preparation courses this summer, following the successful launch of these academically intensive programmes in 2017. A total of 19 universities will be represented across these exciting programmes, which are designed to support students aged 16-18 as they prepare to apply to top UK universities. Students can select from the following courses: Medicine; Engineering with Applied Physics; PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics); and Natural Sciences. “We have refined our courses from last year, based on the courses which were the most popular choices with our students, and also based on student feedback from 2017”, said Zoe Torsney, Concord’s Course Liaison Co-ordinator. “Academics from top universities - including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, LSE and other Russell Group universities - will be visiting to deliver lectures, seminars and workshops. “Many are returning speakers who had a fantastic experience with our students last year and enjoyed visiting the campus over the summer. “There will be a maximum of 24 places available on each programme, which will mean that every student receives individual attention, and a high quality, authentic university-style experience,” she said. The first programme, Medicine, begins on Sunday 1st July and the courses then run throughout July and August until the end of the PPE course on 24th August. Students who are interested in booking a place on one of the university preparation courses can contact Zoe or a member of the summer course team. Zoe’s email address is . “We were delighted to hear that a total of 9 of the students who attended our university preparation courses last summer are now in receipt of offers to study at Oxford or Cambridge,” she added. Two of Concord’s current crop of Oxbridge-bound students have commented on their personal experience of the university preparation courses. Lucy Hampton, who has received an offer to study PPE at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford, said:  “The university preparation course helped me to find specific subjects which I was interested in; and helped me to identify the topics which I enjoy and want to pursue in the near future.” Said David Zhang, who has an offer to study Economics at Trinity College, Cambridge:  “I found it quite diverse in terms of content; you learn the ins and outs of the topics – the topics which you’ll be studying at university.”
