The

Royal Parks Half Marathon is this weekend

Friday October 12, 2018

A message from Mr Hawkins: Please forgive me writing again, but I wanted to update you on the progress of Concord’s campaign in support of UNICEF. Our total of funds raised is now over £26,000: this is simply fantastic. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your support for the Half Marathon I am running this weekend in London. It really is enormously appreciated. Once again, if you are still wondering whether to make a contribution, please consider it. UNICEF really does amazing work. As just one example, UNICEF is working around the world to provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Currently, 800 children are dying each day for lack of these basic amenities, while in sub-Saharan Africa a lack of such facilities is preventing 9 million girls from learning to read and write.  This is simply wrong. By 2021, UNICEF has set the goal of giving 60 million more people access to clean drinking water. And ultimately, through their work, UNICEF is standing up for the rights of all children to health, safety and education. I am sure that this is a goal we can all believe in. Donations can still be made via the JustGiving website at the following link: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Neil-Hawkins9 Thank you again for your support. The kind words and pledges of support really are humbling. If you do not wish to pledge through Just Giving, please contact my PA and we can look at alternative ways of making a donation. Wendy.Hartshorne@concordcollege.org.uk Mr Hawkins is pictured at the back of Concord’s Main Hall with the school Prefects earlier this week.
