Monday October 9, 2017

Concord sixth form student Adrian Ng has visited London to attend a prize giving event for an essay he has written. He was awarded a certificate at a ceremony for his entry in the Institute of Economic Affairs Essay Competition. During his visit to the offices of the IEA in Westminster, Adrian met Dr. Stephen Davis, the IEA Education Director who gave him a warm welcome. Said Adrian who is currently studying study maths, further maths, English and economics at A level:  “It was an enjoyable experience and I am delighted my essay came in the top 20 of over 200 entries in the competition.” The essay, entitled ‘The unreliability of economic forecasting,’ was part of his extended research to assist with his university application to study economics. Dr. Davis said there had been a very competitive and high standard set of entries.  “The essays that addressed the question on the fallibility of economic forecasting were particularly thoughtful. “They engaged with a wide range of difficult issues.”
