An

update from Mr Hawkins

Friday October 5, 2018

I am writing to thank the many members of the Concord community who have so far given so generously in support of UNICEF. I can’t believe that we have already raised £10 000! Thank you. UNICEF is a charity that suits Concord extremely well, with its clear focus on the needs of children, and its international outlook. The difference is that UNICEF is looking out for those who have no one else to care for them. I regularly remind Concord students that we lead privileged lives and that with such privilege comes responsibility. In this context, I am so glad that our Concord community is once again showing its generosity. If you are still thinking about giving, please don’t hesitate to visit my Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Neil-Hawkins9 Children are suffering in so many different countries: in too many cases they do not have food, water, shelter, medicines or care. But UNICEF is there to help. Today, in Sulawesi (Indonesia), UNICEF workers and volunteers are providing clean water and emergency supplies to support children and families who have survived the earthquake and tsunami and are now trying to survive its aftermath. In 2017, UNICEF responded to 337 humanitarian emergencies in 102 countries.  It is a great charity doing amazing work often in the most challenging circumstances. Let’s aim to make 2018 a special year in Concord’s support for UNICEF. Please give if you are able to… Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you do not wish to pledge through Just Giving, please contact my PA and we can look at alternative ways of making a donation. Wendy.Hartshorne@concordcollege.org.uk Mr Hawkins is pictured running with the students at the House Cross country event this week.
