Lower School Sports Day took place on Wednesday 30th April. Both the weather and the competition stayed fair in this important event in the Inter-house trophy competition. There were some outstanding individual performances in both the the track and field events with some records being broken and new events included for the first time. The eventual winners were Gandhi House. Thank you to the Photography Prefects for the images.
The annual Inter-house Swimming Gala took place in the Concord pool on Sunday 4th May. The four houses battled it out in this the penultimate event of the Inter-house trophy competition. Gandhi were the winners on the day with some superb individual performances. Thanks to Mr Hudson and the Photography prefects for capturing the event and getting somewhat wet in the process!
On Monday 5th May Concord staff and students gathered on the lawn behind the Main House for the annual college photo. Everyone dressed to impress and apart from the official photos there were many opportunities to take informal pictures and selfies. Thank you to Mr Hudson and the photography prefects for capturing the afternoon.
The final event of the 2014 Inter-house competition, the 6th Form Track & Field athletics, took place on Wednesday 7th May. With the overall competition so close, it was vital that all the houses put in a strong performance and it certainly made for a very exciting afternoon of races and field events in spite of the weather. With strong performances in the relays and throwing events, Teresa managed to pull off the win on the day, although the overall Inter-house competition for 2014 was won by Mandela.
The 6.2 students spent their final few days in lessons in fancy dress as is the tradition at Concord. Themes over the week included fictional characters, past & present, gangsters & geeks and of course, everyone's favourite, cross-dressing! Thanks to Philip Hawkins & Nick Jones in 6.2 for sharing their photographs.
The 6.2 Leavers of 2014 were treated to a splendid evening to celebrate their final term at the college. As is the tradition at Concord, this was the last formal occasion for the senior students, before they leave the college and embark upon the next stage of their education. It was a time to celebrate the success of this very talented group of young people and to reflect upon their achievements.
The Lower School Dinner, which took place on 31st May, was a formal celebration of the academic and extra-curricular successes of the students in Forms 3, 4 and 5 over the year. It is also a special evening when everyone gets to put on their smartest clothes and enjoy a fabulous meal!
On Saturday 7th June 6.1 students at Concord were treated to an end of year dinner. The evening was a chance to celebrate the end of a successful year, award the subject prizes and to bring the year group together for a sophisticated social event.
Concord’s sports teams celebrated their success over the past year with the annual presentation of sports awards. All students who have represented the college were acknowledged, as were some outstanding team performances and the Albert Leon trophy for the greatest individual contribution to sport at Concord was awarded for the first time this year.
