It’s CED instead of TED talks at Concord

A small group of sixth form students at Concord are running a series of Creative, Engage, Discover (CED) talks recruiting speakers to deliver academic based topics.

So far, a large number of students have been treated to talks which have included ‘Meteor Showers,’ ‘De-regulation of the economy,’ ‘Self-driving cars’ and ‘Dolphins.’

The CED talks are similar to the famous internet TED talks in what is very much a student-led initiative at Concord.  Heading the group of 6.1 students is Heidi Vuong who is supported in the creativity by Lucy Hampton and in the advertising by Adrian Lauton and Thomas To with the advertising.

Said Heidi:  “These are academic based talks although we aim to extend them to other interesting topics such as music.  They are going down really well with students, particularly those in 6.2.

“I am involved because I personally feel the A level syllabus lacks a creativity element and I really miss this.  So the CED talks group is all about sharing ideas.”
