Winter Concert 2014
The fabulous end of term concerts, performed over two nights on the 20th and 21st November to students and guests, were a showcase for the musical, dramatic and dancing talents at Concord.
Operation Christmas Child
More than 100 shoeboxes of gifts have been collected by students at Concord for the charity Operation Christmas Child. It is the sixth successive Christmas that students and staff have donated the boxes for children overseas living in orphanages or who are caught up in war zones.

Art Trip To Liverpool
On Friday 7th November, a group of 40 Form 5, 6.1 and 6.2 students travelled to Liverpool to visit The John Moores Painting Prize at The Walker Gallery as well as the much anticipated Andy Warhol exhibition at Tate Liverpool.
Bigger and Better Christmas Fayre
The Concord College Christmas Fayre on Sunday November 23rd from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Concord Supports Xavier Project in Uganda
Funds from the sale of second hand text books at Concord is supporting the setting up of a library for refugee children from the Congo. A cheque for £6,000 has been presented by Concord’s Eco Club to Sarah Yates, of Bridgnorth, a volunteer with the Xavier Project, a charity, to help urban refugees in Uganda gain access to education books.
Aspiring Medics Benefit from Clinical Sessions
A Concord biology teacher who helped organise a clinical skills workshop for has praised the hands on experience which he says has benefitted students. The clinical testing experience has been gained by sixth form students hoping to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science.
House Arts Competition 2014
Now in its sixth year, the Inter-House Arts Competition was eagerly anticipated as the four houses battled it out in the theatre on Sunday 18th October to be the winners of the coveted House Arts Shield. The theme of the event was ‘Celebrations’ coinciding with the 65th Anniversary of Concord.
Cellist Josh Selected to Play for NYO
A top musical honour has been awarded to Concord College day student Josh Mountford. The Form 4 pupil has been selected to play for the National Youth Orchestra and today he described the honour as ‘amazing.’
Jo An Wins Festival Medal
A Concord student has won the sixth form recital at the latest Shropshire Festival of Verse and Prose. Jo An Ma (6.1) who has been at Concord College since Lower School, performed a poem, extract from a story and part of a letter which she completed with the ‘Last Post.’
Concord's Principal Raises £35 000 for UNICEF
Concord’s Principal has raised more than £35,000 from a single run for UNICEF. Mr Neil Hawkins was sponsored by parents, staff and alumni to run in the Royal Parks half marathon in London last weekend.
Concord's Got Talent!
The annual Concord College Talent Show took place on Saturday 4th October. A packed audience in the theatre enjoyed an entertaining and varied programme including singing and dancing, from pop to classical music as Concord students showed off their talents.
Expansion of Concord Campus
Concord is expanding its educational facilities for students at a time when it will shortly be recording a record number of students in its 65th anniversary year. The college has purchased a 32 acre field adjacent to the Acton Burnell campus
On Saturday 27th September, the first event of the Inter-house Trophy for 2014/15 took place. The annual Road Race is always a popular event and this year the tension was even greater as many of the runners were keen to break the long standing school records for the event. Once again this year it was record turnout with 85% of the school taking part in the Lower School and Senior events.
Father & Son to Run Half Marathon
Concord Principal Mr Neil Hawkins and son Philip, who left Concord in June after sitting his A levels, are to run in the forthcoming Royal Parks Foundation half marathon in central London to raise funds for Unicef.
Jo An Shows her Talent
Sixth form student Jo An Ma captivated a school assembly when she performed her prize winning public speaking entry ‘Enchantment: The life of Audrey Hepburn.’ Jo An who has been at Concord College since Lower School, recently won a trophy and certificate in an Asia Talent Association competition in her native Hong Kong.
New Head Boy & Girl Outline their Plans for the Year
Concord College’s new Head Boy and Head Girl have been outlining their plans for the forthcoming year. Dami Adebayo and Emma Huntley who are in their final year at Concord, are keen to integrate the many different cultures and establish a ‘Concord type spirit.’
Seven New Teaching Staff join Concord
A talented group of seven new teaching staff with a diverse range of skills, interests and experience has joined Concord at the start of the Autumn term. Concord has welcomed Dr. Richard Beard (Chemistry), Dr. Roger Fessey (Chemistry), Dr. Lee Garland (Physics), Ms Susan Correll (EFL), Ms Deborah McCormick (EFL), Mrs. Hannah de Quincey (Drama, English, Public Speaking), Ms Susan Correll (EFL) and Mr. Luke Singer (History).
Concord Celebrates with Son et Lumiere
Concord celebrated its 65th anniversary with an amazing Son et Lumiere light and sound show on Saturday September 13. The spectacle featured lights, images and animations projected onto the back of the main building to depict the history of the college from 1949 to 2014.
Open Water Swimming Success for Lucy
Lower School Concord student Lucy Fairbanks has had a busy summer competing in open water swimming events winning a regional race in the Midlands and going on to compete in a national race.
