New Dark Room at Art School
A brand new dark room at Concord’s dedicated Art School is enabling the two pioneers of Photography A Level to develop their skills and create an impressive portfolio of work, in preparation for their AS Level, which they will take later this month.
Poet Laureate Contender Visits Concord
Poet Laureate contender and GCSE and A Level set poet Carol Ann Duffy visited Concord on Friday 13th March to give a presentation of her poetry to students from both the college and a local school.
Record Results in UKMTIMC for Mathematicians!
Concord students who entered this year's UK Mathematics Trust Intermediate Maths Challenge(IMC) have achieved the college's best ever results. A record number of fifty students entered the competition and a total of thirty-nine certificates were awarded to them for their efforts.
Winners of Haiku Competition
The winners of Concord’s annual Haiku Poetry Competition have been announced. With the standard and number of entries even higher this year, congratulations go to the winner Patrick Chong and the runners-up, Babatunde Gafaar (2nd) and Samantha Ong (3rd).
Outreach Teach at Local Primary School
Concord’s Outreach Society visited a local primary school last week to teach the youngest pupils there about Chinese New Year customs as part of a multi-cultural educational project.
It's Pancakes All Round!
Some Form Three students at Concord have had their first taste of the traditional British pancake this week. They enjoyed their first experience of making and eating Western style pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
Valentine's Singagrams Raise Money for Charity

Young Enterprise Group Attend Trade Fair
The Young Enterprise group from Concord College, spent a day at the Darwin Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury, selling products and services. The group of 20 students had a very successful day operating in shifts and made over £200 profit for their shareholders.
Shi Yun in Music Final
One of Concord’s talented musicians has reached the final to find the county’s Young Musician of the Year 2009. Shi Yun Khoo, a remarkable pianist, and multi-talented individual, who already has an offer from Cambridge to read Medicine, has been invited to take part in the final of this prestigious competition later this term.
Medals for two in BMO
Of the twenty-five Concord students who entered the first round of the British Mathematical Olympiad (BMO) at the end of last term, two have been awarded medals and a further six have been awarded certificates of Distinction.
Stop Press!Record Number of Oxbridge Offers
The new term has brought great news for sixteen 6.2 students at Concord as they have received their eagerly awaited offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge. This is a record for the college with the greatest number of students in a single year to be offered Oxbridge places in Concord’s 60 year history.
The Concord basketball team has won the Shropshire League, after narrowly missing out on the top spot by tiny margins over the last couple of years. The team won their final home game against their main rivals at the end of last term, which gave them a clean sweep of victories in the league.
Snow Welcomes Students in January!
The new intake of 52 students arrived at Concord at the beginning of the Spring Term on January 4th, with snow and plummeting temperatures, which they say has been the most challenging of the many changes they are already experiencing.
Welcome to New Head of Lower School
Concord College is delighted to welcome Mrs Gail Denham as its new Head of Lower School. Gail takes over from Jeremy Kerslake who has taken on the role of Vice Principal Pastoral, after six years in charge of the Lower School.
Stop Press! Concord Maths Team Wins Regional Final
The maths team from Concord College has won the regional final of the UK Mathematics Team competition. These four outstanding mathematicians achieved an almost perfect score to come through this round of the challenge.
Concord Features in Chinese Best Seller
The Chinese mother of a former student at Concord has written a best seller in her country. Writer Zhou Lee features her 20 year old daughter Gloria Lv in her Chinese best selling book which includes many passages on the formative years the ex-student spent at Concord.
Choir in World Record Singing Event
The Concord College choir took part in the Big Sing on 27th November, a national attempt to break the world record of the largest simultaneous sing-along. It was an official world record breaking event to beat the previous record of greatest number of people singing the same song at the same time.
Guy Fawkes Event 2008
On Saturday 8th November Concord students were invited to attend the annual Halloween and Guy Fawkes Event! With food and face painting, a murder mystery trail and fancy dress disco, it was a night of fun and good humour, enjoyed by all those who took part.
