Success for Maths Team
The senior maths team from Concord College has won the regional final of the UK Mathematics Team competition for the second year in a row.
Concert at Dorrington
Nearly seventy students from Concord treated audiences at Dorrington village hall to an evening of music and dance at a concert, in aid of Dorrington parish church restoration fund, on Friday 13th November.
New Classroom Block
As the students returned to lessons after a short half term break, it seemed a good time to reflect on the new classroom block which came into use at the beginning of the present term in September. The new classrooms at Concord are occupied by the English and Maths departments and are right at the heart of the college.
On Saturday 7th November Concord students were invited to attend the annual Halloween and Guy Fawkes Event! It was an evening full of fun with some amazing costumes and some scary frights!
The Head of Sport at Concord, Albert Leon, is delighted to announce the return of rugby to the sports programme for the first time since 2002.
High Ropes Course
Concord College has made a major investment to demonstrate its commitment to the importance of outdoor education. In the college grounds, Concord has installed one of the best state-of-the-art developmental high ropes facilities in the country - if not in Europe.
New House Arts Event
A brand new event has been added to the Inter-house challenge in the form of a House Arts Competition and on Sunday 25th October the four houses battled it out in the theatre to be the first winners of the coveted new House Arts Shield.
Students at Concord College took part in a Mexican Charity Event on Friday 23rd October to raise money to help to rehabilitate street chidren in Mexico.
Primary schoolchildren were given a rare opportunity to launch a black powder rocket and to work in the laboratories at Concord as part of a newly established primary science link.
Concord is delighted to announce that as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal will visit the college in December.
'Fun Run' Raises £400
Three of Concord’s Houseparents took part in a Charity fun run event at the weekend to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
New Look Website
Concord College is delighted to announce the launch of its new look website. After much hard work, in conjunction with DSD education, a fresh new look has been achieved and new features added.
New Day Students Join Lower School
Concord College has welcomed a significant number of day students from local state and independent schools to the Lower School at the start of the new term.
High Hopes for the Year
The Autumn Term is now underway at Concord and the new Head Boy and Head Girl have been working hard, alongside the new team of senior prefects, to help the new students to settle in quickly.
Gold Award for Food
The healthy food choices in the Concord dining room ticked all the right boxes and the kitchen has been presented with a Gold Award. A Shropshire Healthy Eating Gold Award has been achieved by the catering team.
Concord in Top Ten!
Concord’s outstanding A Level results this year have led to two top ten positions in the UK schools' national league tables published recently.
Best Ever GCSE Results!
Concord College Lower School students have achieved outstanding results at GCSE level this summer and have succeeded in improving again on last year’s excellent results with nearly 72% of GCSE results this summer being gained at A* or A grades.
Best Ever A Level Results!
Concord College is delighted to announce its best ever set of A Level results this year. Around 94% of all grades awarded to candidates from Concord were A or B and the average points score per candidate was 475. Together with a 100% pass rate these results are the best in the sixty year history of the college.
Sisters Win Scholarships to Summer School
Two sisters Katya and Anya Solomkina, who assisted Concord College at an exhibition in Kazakhstan four years ago, have been rewarded with scholarships to attend Summer School. They translated for Concord College’s Vice Principal John Leighton who was attending the exhibition.
Glowing Report for Summer School
British Council education inspectors have given a Concord’s Summer School a glowing report.
