Buggy Race 2011
"A record number of teams of would-be engineers took part in the competition to design the fastest ""Propeller Buggy"" in the annual Concord engineering challenge.
"Students from Concord were placed in nine out of 10 classes at the Shropshire Festival of Poetry and Prose, winning a total of 15 prizes. The students, who were mainly Form 5s, came away with six 1sts, five 2nds and four 3rds in what Head of Lower School Gail Denham described as a ‘complete triumph.’
Mandarin on the Menu!
"A Mandarin class for beginners is capturing the imagination of students at Concord. The number of students attending the class has grown to double figures since Chinese for beginners was recently introduced earlier this term.
"A Concord student has been selected for a European team who will be playing the ancient board game ‘Go’ in China at the end of the year. Vanessa Wong who is ranked fourth at Go in the UK, is in Form 5 and currently studying for her GCSEs at Concord.
"Students and staff chose an innovative ‘poet tree’ to celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 6th October. A large branch of a tree from the grounds of the college was full of coloured labels depicting ‘leaves’ with extracts from favourite poems written on them.
Concord's Beauty Queen!
"One of Concord’s senior students, Wei Ling Teh, who is in her final year, has taken two ‘beauty pageant’ titles in her native Malaysia and finished as second runner up overall at the Miss Malaysia Earth competition held at the end of June.
New Staff Join Team
"A record number of ten new teaching staff has joined Concord this term. In a welcome to the newcomers, Principal Neil Hawkins said ‘great education rests on great teachers.’
Double Wedding Bells
"Two teaching couples from Concord tied the knot over the summer to make it double wedding bells at Concord, as Kelly Morley and Chris Arthur wed in July and Helen Archer and Steve Williams celebrated their marriage at the end of August.
New Head Prefects
"En Lin Goh and Yvette Ang are delighted to have been appointed Head Boy and Head Girl for their final year at Concord especially as they are the first pair from Lower School to do so in the college’s history.
GCSE League Table Success
"Concord’s outstanding GCSE results this year have led to a top ten placing for the first time in a UK schools' national league table published recently: it was placed ninth in The Times in the league table of co-educational schools published at the weekend.

"Four lucky students from Concord College were invited to Beijing this summer as guests of Beijing’s top performing high school, the renowned ‘Beijing No.4’.

Outstanding GCSE Reults
"Concord College Lower School students have achieved outstanding results at GCSE once again this summer with a record breaking 53% of grades awarded being A* and 200 A* grades were awarded to this talented group of Form 5 students.
Best Ever A Level Results
"Concord College is delighted to announce its best ever set of A Level results this year. Seventy-eight percent of all grades awarded to candidates from Concord were A* or A and 40% of all grades awarded were A*. The pass rate was 100% and 197 A*s were awarded overall to this talented group of students.
Biggest Ever Summer Courses
"A record number of overseas students are attending two summer courses at Concord this summer to learn English and to enjoy a range of activities both on and off the campus.
New Languages on Offer
"Concord is delighted to announce exciting developments in its Modern Languages department for the next academic year.
"Four members of staff with a combined length of teaching of over 90 years have retired from Concord at the end of the summer term. The college has said farewell to Jennifer O’Shea, longest serving with 34 years, Ruth Upsall with 25 years, Andrew King with 20 years and Kevin Madden with 13 years.
Summer Term Ends

Lower School Dinner
"The Lower School Dinner, which took place on 11th June, was a formal celebration of the academic and extra-curricular successes of the students in Forms 3, 4 and 5 over the year. It is also one night when everyone gets to put on their smartest clothes!
Success for LS Mathematicians
"Two mathematicians from Concord’s Lower School are among the top 50 young mathematicians in the country, after outstanding performances in the UK Intermediate Mathematics Trust Olympiad awards for 2011.
