Congratulations to Russell Johnson, a member of the teaching staff at Concord, who competed in the London marathon last weekend. Mr Johnson who teaches physics ran the event for Severn Hospice and raised over £1,500. "
"Four sixth form students from Concord collected certificates – one more than last year – in a major UN-style debate about important worldwide problems. The group were among more than 300 students taking part in the Model United Nations Conference in Birmingham.
College Road Race
" On Saturday 21st April, a large crowd gathered in front of the Main Hall for the annual Concord College Inter-House Road Race. This popular event marks the beginning of the athletics season at Concord in the Summer Term.
"A senior Concord student has achieved the distinction of reaching the final stage of two prestigious academic national competitions. Jonathan Kwan was selected to attend two national training camps in both the Maths and Physics Olympiads.

"Concord now has an official Facebook page to share news, photos and information. The Facebook page was set up earlier in the year and is still in its infancy but has already been found by some observant users!
"At the end of last term Marion Legeais in Form 3 at Concord returned from two skiing tournaments in the French Alps with a trophy and five medals. She took part in the Inter School Ski Challenge in France where she represented Concord.
"A Concord student in Form 5 has been selected to represent Shropshire Schools in this year’s inter counties badminton tournament. Jetmond Ma is the first student in his age group from Concord to be chosen to represent the county.
"Concord’s senior debating team has won the west of England regional final of the English Speaking Union Schools Mace Debating Competition and is through to the final of the UK’s oldest national debating competition to be held in London on 30th March.
"A group of students from Concord’s Lower School achieved a stunning set of results on their first-ever outing to the Chester Festival of Speech and Drama on 10th March.
"Concord marked Sport Relief 2012 with the second inter-boarding house Fun Sports with many competitors dressed in pyjamas. All monies raised from the Fun Sports on the afternoon of 16th March will be donated to Sport Relief.
"Students from Concord’s Outreach Society have visited a local primary school to help with the young pupils' study of continents of the world as part of a multi-cultural education project.
"A 250 year old oak tree, discovered to have died in the last two years, has inspired a most unusual sculpture in the grounds at Concord.
"The Concord debating team will be competing against another Shropshire School in the regional final of the UK’s oldest national debating competition for schools.
STOP PRESS: The team has won the regional final and are through to the national final at the end of the month.
"Competing in their first British Biology Olympiad, no fewer than 13 students from Concord have achieved awards. Among the awards picked up by final year A level students were three gold, two silver and two bronze.
"Nearly 200 former Concord students who had attended the college in the last five years – the majority are still at university in the UK – attended the reunion on February 18th.
Top 5 School Awards
"A national educational organisation, Best-schools.co.uk, has awarded Concord two awards to recognise the college as one of the top five independent schools in the UK.
London Galleries Trip
"The Art department recently visited London on their annual trip to experience a variety of exciting exhibitions. This year the 6.1 and 6.2 art and photography students took a coach to London with Mr Hudson, Ms Tonks, Ms Saleemi and Mr Denham.
A Starry Night!
"The Starry Night Concert took place in the Concord theatre on 12th February. The concert, organised entirely by the students of the Outreach Society, featured the singing and dancing talents of a host of our very own Concord ‘Stars' and raised £800 for charity.
"Concord’s Lower School students rose to the challenge of reciting poetry to an audience in the Lower School Poetry Competition, with Forms 4 & 5 performing extracts from Shakespeare.
"Promising skier Marion Legeais, a student in Form 3 at Concord, has her sights set on competing in the British Championships in the French Alpine skiing resort of Meribel in April.
