"The longest serving member of the teaching staff at Concord has announced his retirement. John Leighton, 63, Vice Principal and Senior Teacher, retired at the end of the Summer Term. "

Expedition for Zach

"A Concord student’s enterprise has helped him to fund the cost of a fortnight’s expedition in Indonesia this summer. Zach Owen, who has just taken his AS levels, planned a sponsored cycle ride towards the cost of an expedition with Operation Wallacea. "

Jubilee Medals

"Commemorative Jubilee medals have been presented to all students at Concord.  A total of 450 medals have been presented to all current students as a memento of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. "

6.1 Dinner

"On Saturday 9th June 6.1 students at Concord were treated to the first ever 6.1 end of year dinner. The evening which had a Casino Royale theme, was a chance to celebrate the end of a successful year academically and to bring the year group together for a sophisticated social event. "

Concord Web App

"Concord is delighted to announce the launch of its new Web App.  This is hosted by us, in real time and is available to view on iPhone, Blackberries and most smart phone devices. "

Lower School Dinner

"The Lower School Dinner, which took place on 26th May, was a formal celebration of the academic and extra-curricular successes of the students in Forms 3, 4 and 5 over the year. It is also one night when everyone gets to put on their smartest clothes! "

Jubilee Celebration

"Concord College is hosting a special event, a fete for four local parishes to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Saturday 2nd June. It will also be a chance for the students and the local community to come together in this time of national celebration. "

Young Enterprise Award

"Fifteen economics students at Concord who formed a Young Enterprise company to buy and sell calligraphy pens and sand drawings have won the Shropshire Young Enterprise finance management award. "

Graduation Ball

"The 6.2 Leavers of 2012 were treated to a splendid evening to celebrate their final term at the college. It was a time to celebrate the success of this very talented group of young people and to reflect upon their achievements. "

Audience with Tony Benn

"Tony Benn visited Concord this week and held an audience with staff and students. He was invited to answer a wide range of questions on the ‘60s social revolution?’ - British society from 1959-1975 – being studied by a group of AS students but also spoke much more widely about his career in politics, his opinions on current affairs and memorable moments including his interview with Ali G! "

US Diplomat Visit

"A Concord student invited a top American diplomat to visit the college and give a talk about this year’s American Presidential Election. Sixth former Bethany Lyttle sent a personal invitation to Mrs Sharlina Hussain-Morgan, assistant cultural attaché at the US Embassy in London. "

Inter House Trophy

"In an exciting competition this year, Waldheim have won the Concord Inter House trophy competition for 2011/12. With twenty-two events being contested over three terms, Waldheim took the title convincingly with Lie in second position. "

Maths Olympiad Success

"Students in Concord’s Lower School have performed better than ever in the Intermediate Mathematics Challenge this year. A record number qualified for the UK Intermediate Olympiad and Calvin Chow in Form 3 was one of only five students in the country to score 59/60 in their paper. "

Swimming Gala

"The Summer Term’s sporting calendar of House competitions continued with the Swimming Gala on Sunday 6th May.  A large crowd gathered to cheer on the swimmers and to enjoy the barbecue and refreshments provided by the kitchen on the terrace outside the pool on a beautiful Spring day! "

Drama Production

"Everything changes…was the first line of the Concord production of ‘It Snows’ an ensemble one act play that was performed in the Concord theatre by the Drama Group on May 3rd & 4th. "

Historian Inspires Students

"Historian Dominic Sandbrook who has been presenting the BBC2 series ‘The 70s’ has re-visited his native Shropshire to talk to students at Concord. Bridgnorth-born Dominic was invited to address Sixth Form students taking their AS history. "

Concord's Got Talent

"The annual Concord College Talent Show took place on Saturday 28th April.  A packed audience in the theatre enjoyed an entertaining and varied programme including singing and dancing, from pop to classical music from ballet to modern dance. "

Concert Raises 5000!

"Earlier this week Concord students handed over cheques totalling over £5000 to the Shropshire WI and local Rotary clubs from the proceeds raised by the International Concert held in March at Theatre Severn. "

Poet's Visit

"Two hundred and thirty students as well as staff from three schools were at Concord College for an appearance by Simon Armitage, one of Britain’s most prestigious poets. "

Book Give Away

"To celebrate World Book Day Concord’s librarian Mrs Anne Williams has given away twenty-four books to Concord students of twenty-four different nationalities. "
