"Digging a 350 metre trench through the centre of a campus has been a big health and safety challenge at Concord since the start of term. For the £300,000 groundwork project has included laying five lengths of 150mm copper cable to service a new accommodation block on which work will begin at the end of the year.
Half Marathon Run
"Concord Principal Mr Neil Hawkins is running the London Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 7 October (this weekend). He is doing so to support two very worthwhile charities: the Teenage Cancer Trust and Cancer Research UK.
"A student at Concord is combining studies with practice for the forthcoming Horse of the Year Show (HOYS). Triplet Olivia Poole has been riding since she was six years old and has just started in Form 3 at Concord along with her sisters. She will be competing on three separate days at HOYS at Birmingham’s NEC from October 3-7.
"Concord student Zenn Long in Form 4 has taken third place in two open categories of a regional Yo-yo competition. He was the second youngest player in the Eastern UK regional competition in Essex which took place in September where around fifty competitors of different ages took part.
Success at Go
"A Concord student is challenging to be amongst the world’s top players in the ancient game of Go. Vanessa Wong who has just started in the sixth form at Concord, is now the overall British number one and European women’s top Go player.
"Concord was delighted to welcome four new members to the teaching staff team at the beginning of the academic year. In a welcome to the newcomers, Principal Neil Hawkins said ‘I am delighted to welcome a really talented and interesting group of professionals to Concord. Beehives at Concord
"Two teachers who are beekeeping enthusiasts have introduced the first-ever hive at Concord. The newly formed beekeeping club has generated a lot of interest amongst the students with over 50 expressing an interest and attending the first meeting last week.
New Head Boy and Girl
"Terrance Lau and Afnan Meeran are delighted to have been appointed Head Boy and Head Girl for their final year at Concord and have been outlining their plans for the year.
"Concord student has been selected to perform with the English Youth Ballet in three performances of Swan Lake this coming Friday and Saturday (September 21 and 22).
Concord in FT Top 10
"Concord has once again been ranked in the UK’s Top 10 by the prestigious Financial Times in a league table published in their education feature on Saturday 8th September. Concord was placed 6th out of all schools based on A level results and 1st in the Top Value Boarding schools table.
Top in GCSE table
"Concord’s superb GCSE results have put the college top in the county on A*/A grades this year in a league table based on data produced by the ISC (Independent Schools Council). In other national league tables published at the weekend these results have placed Concord 13th in The Times table (co-educational schools) and 53rd in The Telegraph (all schools).
Concord at Top
"Concord’s outstanding A level results have led to success once again in the national league tables published over the weekend. In a table based on data compiled by the ISC (Independent Schools Council) Concord was named as the second best independent school in the UK. Second is Concord’s highest ever position in this table (Concord was 4th last year) and was based on points per candidate.
"Concord College Lower School students have achieved outstanding results at GCSE once again this summer with 100% of students achieving five A* to C grades including English and mathematics. A superb 79% of grades awarded were A* or A in contrast to the national average of 22.4%. Overall 235 A* grades were awarded to this talented group of Form 5 students.

A Level Success
"Concord College is delighted to announce outstanding A Level results this year. Ninety- five percent of all grades awarded to candidates from Concord were A*, A or B. Seventy-five percent of all grades awarded were A* or A and 37% of all grades awarded were A*. The pass rate was 100% and over 200 A*s were awarded overall to this very talented group of students.
Clare Celebrates 25th!
"Clare Riddell is celebrating a record 25th annual summer course at Concord College. It is her fifteenth year of summer courses and her fifth as Director.
Gianni at Concord
"The son of one of the world’s greatest living footballers attended Summer School in July. Gianni Rivera, 16, son of Giovanni (Gianni) Rivera, once nicknamed the ‘Golden Boy’ of Italian football, studied intensive English during his month long stay at Concord.
"Two Olympic Games torches spanning 64 years came together for a rare ceremony just five days before the 2012 games open. The meeting of a 1948 torch – the last time Britain hosted the Olympics - and a 2012 torch took place on Sunday at Concord.
In Her Parents' Footsteps
"The daughter of parents who both studied full time at Concord has herself been a student – on a summer course. Ellie Ong, 13, has been studying science as well as improving her English on the summer course in July. And she hopes to return as a full time student in 2014.
Summer School 2012
"Six hundred students, representing 39 nationalities, are attending the two annual summer schools at Concord during July and August. The summer courses, which have been running for 18 years, have also received their first student booking from Mongolia.
