The Physical Education department at Concord aims to provide all students with positive experiences through sport and recreation. There exists a gentle expectation for all to develop their physical skills and interests through a range of activities. Participation may range from inter House tournaments to the more serious inter School contests aimed at the gifted games players who wish to pursue their chosen sport to elite levels. The Concord teams currently enjoy regional successes in football, basketball, netball, badminton & squash.
There are also a number of clubs delivering a diverse range of experiences. These include judo, yoga, dance (ballet/jive/street) fencing and lifesaving.
The students enjoy the use of first-class sports facilities including two sports hall, weights gymnasia, squash & tennis courts, a high ropes course and an indoor swimming pool. There are also over 30 acres of excellent playing fields & athletics areas. The campus is nestled amidst the glorious Shropshire hills where orienteering, cross country and Duke of Edinburgh all co-exist.
At Form 4 GCSE PE is offered. The course allows a student to capitalise on physical and sporting attributes, as well as creating physical confidence and the ability to enjoy lifelong sport and recreation. A positive experience through PE and sport may also open doors to further qualifications and careers within the realms of leisure, recreation, education and sports management and enterprise.
