Concord’s library is at the heart of the College. Its 7000 books are just the beginning of what make it so special. There are over 45 computer stations, 150 study spaces, a careers library, a music library, a DVD borrowing facility as well as strong academic and fiction sections. Close working partnerships with academic departments ensures that the generous resources are targeted to the students’ needs.
Concord’s Library is designed to a be vibrant learning centre in which students can gain access to high quality information and resources in both physical and virtual formats. The College has online subscriptions to a very wide range of academic and current affairs periodicals giving students remote 24/7 access to highly relevant and up-to-date information in support of their studies.
The highly professional library staff are always looking for ways to support the students in their learning and student suggestions are actively welcomed. There are also facilities for students to request specialist books from national and academic libraries throughout the UK.
The library is open seven days/week until 10pm (later on a Saturday). A team of library prefects is fully involved in both the practical and strategic management of this busy resource. The librarians together with the student led Eco Club also manage a popular second hand textbook shop which raises thousands of pounds for charity each year.
